Susan, with a young son to care for, refused to believe this was the end for her. Her fight was only beginning, and what a battle she has been fighting! Her mother picked up and helped her financially giving her some relief of house payments and daily living expenses. Susan sought other alternatives to help kick her battle with cancer. Memo To: Susan Wonder Woman Bucket List Wish
Someone I know was recently diagnosed for the 2nd time with breast cancer. She has already scheduled a double mastectomy. My first experience with cancer was a friend I babysat for when I was in high school. She had a mastectomy soon after her diagnosis in May of my junior year. They told her they got it all, but started her on chemotherapy anyway. Within a month, they found it in her other breast. She had it removed the same week. Again, no sign of any cancer. About a month later, she was having chest pains. They ran more tests and found cancer in her sternum. I don’t know what kind of treatment they added. She lost all her hair. I didn’t see her much that summer. She was sick and even though they say cancer isn’t contagious, my dad was afraid and didn’t want me going over there. I’ll never forget the first day of school my senior year. 4 months after her first diagnosis…Mickie died. Without any breasts, she ultimately died of pneumonia from breast cancer in her lungs.
If you just don’t want breasts anymore and the insurance will pay for it…cool. If the double mastectomy is to prevent dying from breast cancer – it might not work.
My neighbor died about 6 years ago, from what they thought was brain cancer. It turned out it was breast cancer that spread to her brain.
A friend from Sweden died from what they thought was brain cancer. Her autopsy showed it was melanoma in her brain.
When my dad died, the main tumor had wrapped legs around his spine. He could barely move. It was kidney cancer.
When the 2inch black hole with legs showed up on my butt, I knew they would probably remove most of the right side of my cheek I had worked so hard to develop. I made the decision to not allow that. I would have been mutilated, and the stuff that spread to all the other parts of my skin, lymph nodes and liver would have still been there.
I know we are all on our own paths. I hope all who read this will take control of their lives. Make decisions from a place of trust and love and not fear. Do your research and take action in a way that’s right for you. Who knows, maybe the double mastectomy is a way to get reconstruction and get the perfect boobs you’ve always wanted!

Two days ago on a news channel that repeats itself all day long, they talked about a new treatment for pancreatic cancer. Full body Hyperthermia. New? I saw the machine they were talking about. I guess I just need to be thankful U.S. doctors are waking up and will continue to research more natural alternatives to boost the immune system instead of the shotgun approach, killing off the good with the bad.

I hope to never be in the position where I’m being forced to do something I don’t believe in. One of my doctors wrote in his report, that he recommended I schedule a colonoscopy, but highly doubted I would follow through with the test. It felt good reading it, knowing I had been honest enough with him that he understood my perspective. I’m also thankful he didn’t try to force the issue. Wouldn’t that be considered assault?

My doctor gave me copies of the records he received from Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I knew the doctors there didn’t understand me. I knew most people didn’t understand my decision to utilize alternative treatments for the cancer I was dealing with. Aside from other people telling me on a regular basis the stuff I was doing was crazy, some told me I was crazy. There were so many times I wondered if they were right. The things I was doing made sense to me. The traditional treatments, their side effects and the incredibly low survival statistics they carried did not make sense to me at all. I don’t know anyone who has made as many changes in their life as I have – just for survival. There have been several times I’ve stopped doing some of the treatments in an effort to “live” like everyone else does, and the lumps came back. I’ve gone back to eating “normal” and the lumps came back. People think my hours in the sauna are a luxury, they think my time in the hyperbaric chamber is just weird, they would never consider eating only from my list of foods. I’ve been called nuts, crazy and weird to my face. Who knows what they say behind my back. I know I’m alive and well today because of the choices I’ve made. I know I think differently than most people. Passing the background check and psychological exam for my job were an indication to me that I was in some way normal. I’ve been working there 2 years, so aside from my alternative health care ideas, I must in some ways fit in. I had a co-worker tell me last week, “I’d take your body, but not what you put in it”. I was drinking a green drink. She’ll probably never know what it really feels like to feel good. That’s weird to me!
